This volunteer-based program offers our clients in the early to mid-stages of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias, an opportunity for social stimulation and companionship. The program also benefits the caregivers by providing a short period of respite.
Provide our client (the person with Alzheimer's disease or related dementia) an opportunity for social stimulation and moderate activity.
Provide our clients (the caregivers and families) with a short period of respite in which they have an opportunity to re-energize and refocus.
Provide volunteers to assist and compliment the Alzheimer Society staff in the provision of the agency's services to their clients, families, and the community.
ORGANIZATION'S MISSION STATEMENT
The Alzheimer Society of Brant is a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve the quality of the life for persons in Brant County with Alzheimer's disease or related dementias and to assist their families and caregivers through support services, education, advocacy and research.
VOLUNTEER ROLE & OPPORTUNITIES
VOLUNTEER VISITING PROGRAM (2 hours per week for a minimum of six months)
OFFICE SUPPORT Provides support to staff on an ongoing basis to ensure that we can optimize our ability to provide programming and services to the clients and to the community. (regular weekly shifts/or flexible schedules available)
DRIVER occasional transportation of clients/caregivers to support groups / Society functions. A valid driver's licence, proof of insurance and a clear driver abstract are required.
FUNDRAISING/SPECIAL EVENTS opportunities are available for short-term or event specific participation.
